Grant Focus Old MacDonald’s Petting Zoo, located in nearby Woodville, begins its 9th season this month. Jim and Sherry Lewis are the owners of the zoo and live on the premises so they can more easily tend to their vast array of animals and birds. The zoo is home to farm animals such as sheep, goats, and a minature donkey named Samson, but there are also more unusual animals like a porcupine named Quillie Nelson, a Siberian Lynx and a llama. The newest addition is a young Scottish Highlander calf. Bunnies, which children are allowed to hold and snuggle, continue to be the zoo’s #1 attraction.

Jim, who is originally from Dothan, AL was a carpenter before moving to Woodville in 1994. Sherry hails from Houston, TX where she worked in the Marketing Department of Chevron Chemical Company. The Lewises have 4 adult children: one son lives in the Paint Rock Valley and one daughter lives in Woodville. Their other two children live in Houston.

The Zoo is conveniently located 5 miles from Cathedral Caverns and 25 miles east of Huntsville with over 6 beautiful wooded acres. The Zoo features a playground, picnic areas, a gift shop, and a pond.
